Features: College English is a series of teaching materials developed according to the Teaching Syllabus for College English approved by the State Education Commission. The series includes five types of textbooks: intensive reading, extensive reading, listening, fast reading, and grammar and exercises. The trial edition was published in 1986, and the official edition was released in 1992. The intensive reading, extensive reading, fast reading, and listening textbooks are each written in six levels, with one book per level for use in levels 1-6; the grammar and exercises textbook is written in four levels, for use in levels 1-4. Both the intensive reading and listening textbooks are accompanied by teacher's manuals and audio cassettes; the extensive reading textbooks for levels 1-6 are also provided with teacher's manuals. For students whose entry-level requirements are below the syllabus specifications, two sets of preparatory intensive reading and extensive reading textbooks are separately compiled.
