I. Teaching Objectives
The target students of this syllabus are undergraduates in non-Russian majors at universities. Upon enrollment, they should have mastered basic Russian phonetics and grammar, possess a receptive command of approximately 1,800 words (including about 1,200 active words), and have undergone preliminary training in reading, listening, writing, and speaking. For students whose entry-level requirements are below or above the aforementioned standards, relevant sections of this syllabus on "Teaching Arrangement" may be referred to.
II. Teaching Goals
The goal of Russian teaching in universities is to cultivate students' strong reading skills, certain listening and translation abilities, as well as preliminary writing and speaking skills, enabling them to use Russian as a tool to acquire information needed for their majors. Russian teaching should help students master effective language learning methods, build a solid language foundation, enhance their cultural literacy, and develop their language application and information exchange capabilities to meet the needs of social development and economic construction.
This book serves as a guiding document for Russian teaching in universities, providing the basis for teaching arrangements, textbook compilation, and quality assessment. The entire book consists of the main text of the syllabus, a vocabulary list, a grammar table, a functional-notional table, a language skills table, and appendices. This edition places greater emphasis on quality education, replacing specialized reading courses with specialized Russian courses, adjusting the vocabulary list, and adding content related to semantic grammar and discourse.
