Features: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Diagnostics is a discipline that studies the fundamental theories, basic knowledge, and essential skills for examining conditions and differentiating syndromes based on the basic theories of TCM. It serves as a foundational course for various TCM disciplines, bridging the gap between basic theory and clinical specialties, and is a core course in the TCM curriculum system. This course primarily includes diagnosis methods, syndrome differentiation, comprehensive diagnostic application, and medical record writing. The diagnosis methods section covers the Four Examinations (Inspection, Listening & Smelling, Inquiry, and Palpation), while the syndrome differentiation section includes Eight Principles Differentiation, Pathogenicity Differentiation, and Pathological Site Differentiation. It is intended for students majoring in TCM, integrated Chinese and Western medicine, and related fields.
This textbook is developed in full alignment with the national education policy and the strategy of revitalizing the country through science and education, aiming to deepen the reform of higher TCM education materials, promote quality-oriented education, implement a premium strategy, and strengthen quality awareness. Therefore, the writing of this textbook is based on the revision of previous editions, with the goal of leveraging strengths, addressing weaknesses, striving for precision, and achieving excellence. During the writing process, this textbook highlights the innovative thinking characteristics of TCM diagnostic theory in both content and form, while also making adjustments to the structure. It emphasizes the systematicity and completeness of the undergraduate TCM diagnostics textbook, showcases the overall optimization of the material, and ensures the reasonable and organic integration of interdisciplinary content between this discipline and various clinical specialties. It clearly defines the boundaries and scope between TCM diagnostics, basic TCM theory, and clinical disciplines, avoiding unnecessary repetition and fully reflecting the features of a "precise, innovative, and practical" textbook. Through efforts, this textbook has largely met the requirements of standardized content, conciseness, accuracy, clinical applicability, and timeliness. Of course, the correctness and practicality of these reforms still need to be verified through practice.
