Features: This book is a research project led by Professor Zhu Erjuan under the National Social Science Research Program of China. It consists of one main report and seven sub-reports, serving as an academic monograph that conducts a comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth study on how foreign investment can promote the industrial restructuring and upgrading of old industrial bases in China, based on the actual conditions of China's old industrial bases. It holds significant theoretical and practical value for exploring strategies and approaches to revitalize China's old industrial bases. The book has three key characteristics: First, it has strong theoretical depth. For example, through theoretical analysis of the multiple effects of utilizing foreign investment, it further demonstrates that foreign investment is a shortcut to promoting industrial upgrading in old industrial bases. Second, it has strong practical relevance. For instance, it focuses on in-depth research and discussion on new situations, new problems, and ways to transform and upgrade traditional industries, promote the development of high-tech industries, and foster the growth of modern service industries in the context of accelerating industrial restructuring and upgrading through new rounds of foreign investment. Third, it is innovative. For example, it defines and positions different types of old industrial bases in China, and conducts theoretical discussions on how to "enhance the level of opening-up," "strengthen independent innovation capacity," and achieve "comprehensive and coordinated sustainable economic and social development" in the new stage, while also proposing policy recommendations.
