Features: The Public English Test System (PETS) is a five-level English examination system designed for the general public. The focus of PETS testing is on English communicative competence. In terms of test structure, it incorporates various types of questions to assess listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, tailored to the needs of different proficiency levels. The National English Test System (PETS) Textbooks are a set of preparatory materials developed based on the National English Test System Syllabus. There are five volumes in total, with one volume for each level. They can be used as training materials for PETS exams or for self-study by candidates. This series of textbooks closely aligns with the communicative topics and functional notions specified in the exam syllabus, integrating functional notions into communication. It not only teaches language knowledge but also appropriately introduces the culture of English-speaking countries. The exercise design emphasizes the comprehensive development and improvement of candidates' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Each unit covers a specific communicative topic, and the first page of each unit briefly outlines the learning objectives in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, helping candidates at all PETS levels understand the target English communicative proficiency for that unit. Some selected materials may be slightly above the difficulty level of the current grade to allow candidates, while adapting to the current level, to gradually improve their English proficiency.
