Publish Date: 2006-12-01
Features: This book is a collection of academic papers dedicated to the study of traditional Chinese culture, covering topics such as traditional culture and religious thought in ancient China, dialogue between Confucianism and Christianity, Chinese Buddhist culture and thought, Dunhuang documents and ancient Chinese thought, and Sanskrit and Pali documents and ancient Eastern thought. Tianwen attempts to open and cultivate a garden, providing a free and unrestrained home for those who labor diligently in the pursuit of original academic endeavors. Indeed, Tianwen is the homeland of dreamers. Therefore, as long as our hardworking lives are still guided by dreams, as long as our weary and busy lives still hear the call of dreams, we are the cultivators of this garden and the masters of Tianwen. Tianwen is rooted in tradition and is open to all fields of traditional culture. It has no intention of distinguishing between "traditional culture" or "cultural tradition," nor does it aim to differentiate between the so-called "national studies" or "Sinology." Tianwen emphasizes a comprehensive, continuous, and open tradition. It not only holds no bias between the ancient and modern, the East and the West, but also advocates proceeding from the entirety of tradition, based on the global historical perspective of globalization, to achieve unity through interconnectedness and to pass on the torch to continue the legacy of wisdom.
