Features: With the diversification of demands for amateur cultural life, choir as a form of musical art has gained increasing popularity among the masses. Today, the number of amateur choirs, especially senior choirs, is growing day by day, with choirsing in cities and towns across the country. Through choir activities, not only is the leisure cultural life of senior friends enriched, but they also experience the charm of choir art, cultivate their temperament, and can contribute their efforts to building a harmonious society. In early May 2005, the Beijing Senior Choir Competition, organized by the Beijing Committee on Ageing and the China Choral Alliance of the Chinese Musicians' Association, was held to solemnly commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Fascist War and the War of Resistance against Japan. It aimed to spark a wave of singing songs from the Anti-Fascist War, especially songs from the War of Resistance against Japan, and to inspire and promote patriotic enthusiasm. From this perspective, it can be said that choir art not only has a unifying effect on a choir but also on a nation and a people. To meet the needs of the public, we have specially edited and published two versions of "Choral Masterpieces from China and Beyond" for the elderly. Considering the characteristics of senior friends and the convenience of their use, the font size, layout, and binding differ from general publications. In terms of themes and styles, we have strived for diversity, including choral works that reflect different eras and are full of a sense of the times, as well as those that depict revolutionary history and praise noble sentiments. There are also vibrant popular songs, elegant art songs, and rustic folk songs. Additionally, we have written "Performance Notes" after each choral piece for your reference.
