Features: With the diversification of people's demands for amateur cultural and artistic life, choral music, as a form of musical art, is increasingly gaining favor among the public. Today, the number of amateur choirs, especially senior choirs, is growing day by day, with choirs thriving in major and medium-sized cities as well as towns across the country. Through the development of choral activities, not only is the leisure cultural life of senior friends enriched, but they also experience the charm of choral art, cultivate their temperament, and can contribute their efforts to building a harmonious society. In early May 2005, the Beijing Senior Choir Competition, organized by the Beijing Committee on Ageing and the Choral Union of the China Music, was held to solemnly commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Fascist War and the War of Resistance against Japan. Its aim was to spark a wave of singing songs from the World Anti-Fascist War, especially songs from the War of Resistance against Japan, and to inspire and promote patriotic enthusiasm. From this perspective, it can be said that choral art not only has a unifying effect on a choir but also has a unifying effect on a country and a nation. To meet the needs of the public, we have specially edited and published two versions of "Choral Masterpieces from China and Beyond" for the elderly. Considering the characteristics of senior friends and the convenience of their use, the font size, layout, and binding are all different from general publications. In terms of themes and genres, we have strived for diversity, including choral pieces that reflect the life of different eras and are full of a sense of the times, as well as those that depict revolutionary history and praise noble sentiments. There are also vibrant popular songs, elegant art songs, and rustic folk songs. Additionally, we have written "Performance Notes" after each choral piece for your reference.
