Features: Since the publication of Statistics, it has been highly praised by various sectors of society and has been adopted as a teaching material by some sister institutions. It has received honors such as "Ministry of Education Recommended Teaching Material" and "Fourth National Bureau of Statistics Outstanding Statistics Teaching Material." Over the course of more than three years, it has been printed nine times. All of this has been a great encouragement to us. After several years of teaching practice, we found that there are still many shortcomings in the book. Especially with the advancement of teaching methods, the teaching content and focus are also changing, which puts forward new requirements for the teaching content. It is precisely for this reason that the revision of the textbook has become quite necessary.
The second edition was completely rewritten based on the first edition. Compared to the first edition, the second edition has the following changes:
First, new chapters have been added in terms of content, and the content of some chapters has been expanded, such as the addition of a chapter on "Sampling Distributions" and the division of regression analysis into two chapters: "Simple Linear Regression" and "Multiple Linear Regression." At the same time, considering the statistical knowledge learned in middle school, some content has been significantly reduced.
Second, statistical calculations are fully integrated with computers. Based on the characteristics of the textbook content, we still choose Excel as the calculation tool and fully integrate its application with the textbook content. Most data tables and calculation results are also provided in Excel format.
Third, a bilingual glossary of key terms in each chapter is provided at the end of each chapter to help readers review and master some key terms.
Fourth, the number of exercises at the end of each chapter has been increased, and the types are more diversified, with more use of real-world data.
Fifth, the teaching support CD has been comprehensively updated, achieving full linkage with Excel, making teaching and learning more convenient, and adding some practical cases for project-based teaching.
Considering the teaching characteristics of different institutions, some content can be selected for teaching based on actual circumstances.
