How should ABO hemolytic disease be treated?

Patient's question:

How should a child with ABO hemolytic disease be treated? This situation has been going on for some time, and as parents, we are very worried. We hope the doctor can give us some advice.

Doctor's answer:

Newborn Treatment: Medication, phototherapy (blue light), and blood exchange therapy are available.
Blood selection for infant and newborn transfusion and exchange therapy:
- Use fresh blood within 7 days.
- Select Rh-compatible blood that matches both the mother and the infant in terms of ABO.
1. For neonatal hemolytic disease caused by antibodies other than ABO, choose blood that does not contain the corresponding antigen of the specific antibody and is ABO-compatible with the infant.
2. For ABO neonatal hemolytic disease, choose O-type Rh blood that matches the infant's RBC type (using maternal serum for crossmatching).
3. For RhD neonatal hemolytic disease, choose RhD-negative ABO-compatible blood with the mother and infant; or O-type RhD-negative RBC (using maternal serum for crossmatching).
