Features: This book employs statistical analysis and econometric methods to systematically examine the development of foreign trade since the reform and opening-up, as well as its primary driving factors. It evaluates the effects of various factors and government policies, aiming to explain the growth of Guangdong's foreign trade through quantitative analysis. Unlike many existing studies on the relationship between trade and economic growth that focus on a single country, this research centers on the foreign trade development of a province. In addition to considering the international economic environment, it must also take into account the trade and economic systems, policies, and other external factors of the province itself. This approach helps distinguish the impact of national economic and trade policies on local foreign trade development from the effects of local measures to promote it. For Guangdong, specific economic and non-economic factors may play a greater role. The novelty of this study lies in using actual data on Guangdong's foreign trade development to test theoretical hypotheses about trade promotion or driving economic growth, as well as the various factors influencing trade development, particularly the impact of China's trade policy reforms on Guangdong's trade growth. The analysis results may provide insights into explaining the mechanisms of local foreign trade development theoretically, while also serving as an objective evaluation of the effectiveness of national trade policy reforms. Of course, we also aim to propose corresponding policy recommendations based on the analysis conclusions.
