Features: Chen Hongshou was a renowned calligrapher, painter, seal carver, and seal engraver during the Qing Dynasty, one of the "Eight Masters of Xiling." Although he was famous for his seals, very few of his seals have been passed down to this day, and they have been included in very few seal catalogues. The total number of his published seals does not exceed 200. For years, Sun Weizhu, a seal study expert from the Shanghai Museum, has compiled and organized over 380 of Chen Hongshou's seals. He has also written the essays "Biography and Artistic Career of Chen Hongshou" and "Chronological Table of Chen Hongshou," allowing readers to not only appreciate and study Chen Hongshou's seal carving art but also gain a deeper understanding of some of his life stories. The seal inscriptions used in this book are mainly the 113 that contain dates.
