"Cold Water Chilling" is a wuxia novel written by Wen Rui'an in the mid-1980s, widely regarded as a mid-period masterpiece of the Wen-style wuxia. "Cold Water Chilling" may seem like just a story about escape, but you will be mesmerized by the process of escape, which brings out such a rich and diverse plot: love that stirs a thousand snows, brotherhood that churns ten thousand waves, sudden changes like thunder, encounters like dreams, heroic tragedies, unsolvable dead ends, and the contrast between noble and contemptible sentiments. By the time you sigh at the end of the book, you may realize that the "escape" the author wrote about was not escape, but rather the test and journey of life itself.
