Features: This series of books is a historical record of the trajectory of modern Chinese lexical studies, a source of semantics, a cornerstone of information processing, and a vital vein of semantic lexicography. The reputation of a semantic lexicography publishing house is directly proportional to the academic content of its publications. This series reflects the transformation of lexical studies from tradition to modernity. This transformation has three backgrounds: the modern turn of philosophy, which was heralded in the late 19th century; the modern turn of linguistics, which was20 (initiated in the early 20th century); and the modern turn of semantics, whose harbinger rose in the 1920s. A field often overlooked by Westerners—lexical studies—its signal of modernization only emerged from the Moscow School in the 1970s-80s. Lexical studies, especially Chinese lexical studies, have a long and arduous path, requiring exploration both within and beyond China.
