Features: China is one of the earliest countries to use currency. Chinese coins not only have a long history but are also extremely diverse. They are a rich cultural heritage left by the ancestors of the Chinese nation for future generations. Authored by the numismatist Hu Guangpu, the book "Pencil Core Residence" is divided into four volumes: Jia, Yi, Bing, and Ding, totaling 1,900 pages. This new work is based on the original three-volume "Catalog of Ancient Chinese Coins," with corrections, additions, and revisions, aiming to maintain the original style while making it more perfect and applicable overall.
Volume Jia covers ancient coins from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
Volume Yi covers ancient coins from the Northern Song Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty.
Volume Bing covers ancient coins from the Liao, Jin, Western Xia, Ming, and late Qing dynasties.
Volume Ding covers ancient coins from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China.
The entire book collects more than 7,000 rubbing illustrations of ancient coins, presenting a magnificent collection. Most of the coin images are provided by numismatists, coin collectors, coin dealers, coin associations, or museums in Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing. Another portion of the newly added coin items are recent, precious physical materials unearthed domestically in recent years, offering significant research and appreciation value.
All coin items in the book are classified and arranged in chronological order by historical dynasties, with introductions to minting periods, minting locations, and characteristics. Plate types, coin materials, and ratings are noted, along with current market prices, making the content detailed yet concise and practical.
This book is one of the most popular reference tools in the contemporary numismatic and collecting communities.
