Publish Date: 2006-10-01
Features: "Research on the Urban-Rural Spatial Development Plan for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region" is one of the major research topics of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's key project—"Basic Theories and Typical Examples of Sustainable Development of Chinese Human Settlements," and also a project supported by Tsinghua University's "985" Research Fund. After the publication of the first report of "Research on the Urban-Rural Spatial Development Plan for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region," the research team of Tsinghua University, under the leadership of Academician Wu Liangyong, continued to focus on changes in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and conducted ongoing tracking research. In the face of rapid development and new demands for regional planning, guided by the Scientific Outlook on Development, the principles, concepts, directions, and strategic issues of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region's development proposed in the first report were deepened and specified. The second report particularly emphasizes implementing regional research in the broad expanse of urban-rural spaces, with the concept of the capital region and the new jurisdiction, based on a comprehensive integration of the master plans of Beijing and Tianjin cities and the urban system plan of Hebei Province. Using a critical integration approach, it aims to achieve the simultaneous creation of a good living environment and a harmonious society, with independent innovation, advancing the research on the spatial strategic development plan for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to a higher level. The book is richly illustrated and highly readable, making it suitable for urban and regional planning theorists and practitioners, urban planning and construction management workers, leaders of relevant government departments, and faculty and students of relevant disciplines in universities and colleges.
