Features: Histology was first published in 1981, followed by the second edition in 1993, and is now in its third edition, renamed Modern Histology. It was meticulously co-authored by over 80 histology scholars from 28 medical schools across the country. Many chapters in this book are written by middle-aged and young scholars with academic expertise. The book contains approximately 1,200 illustrations, most of which are electron microscope images and all the color illustrations (about 160, placed as inserts at the end of the book) are original works created by Chinese scholars during their teaching and research practices. The chapter structure has been slightly adjusted compared to the previous two editions. The section on "Cells" is now divided into two chapters, and the immune system is split into three chapters: "Fundamentals of Immunocytes," "Central Lymphoid Organs," and "Peripheral Lymphoid Organs." A new chapter titled Overview of the Development of Histology has been added, reviewing the nearly 400-year history of histology, including the progress of Chinese histology over the past century. This book documents the contributions of over 30 histology and embryology scholars born before 1921 (both the deceased and the living). It also lists the names of approximately 100 senior professors who have been engaged in the field of histology and embryology for nearly 50 years since the mid-1950s, playing a crucial role in bridging the past and the future.
