The "Exquisite Collection of Ancient Capital Scenery" includes 108 selected works, striving for representativeness in artistic style and diversity in expression techniques. In terms of content, it aims to comprehensively and multi-layeredly present the history and landscape of ancient Beijing. "Ancient Capital Scenery" was originally a column by the author in the supplement of Beijing Evening News, featuring both paintings and texts. By August 12, 1994, it had been published for eight consecutive years, introducing scenic, culturally significant, and historically rich landmarks in Beijing. In the works of "Ancient Capital Scenery," the author strives to choose the best perspective, expressing their understanding, recognition, and feelings about traditional Beijing culture through both painting and text. For instance, in the painting "Dajue Temple," the author depicts a millennium-old Liao Dynasty stele in the temple, with its weathered inscriptions and rough craftsmanship exuding a rustic simplicity. The stele feels so tangible that a gentle touch seems to erase a thousand years of time, making the viewer deeply sense the authenticity of history.
