Features: We specifically invited the writer Yin Wei to write a book titled Lan Tang Mu Fang, which is about bathing. He has collected a lot of materials, starting from the pre-Qin period and extending to the Ming and Qing dynasties. He doesn’t just talk about bathing; instead, he combines it with beliefs, customs, and local traditions, which aligns perfectly with the culture we discussed earlier. After reading this book, you will discover that bathing has so much more to it than just washing away dust—it is closely related to activities like praying for children, averting disasters, spiritual liberation, and seeking blessings. It’s not just about cleansing oneself! The book also introduces festivals and customs of ethnic minorities, such as the "Bathing Festival," "Water Splashing Festival," and "Bathing Buddha Festival," as well as practices like "open-air bathing," "bathing together for men and women," "bathing in holy water," and "bathing in the same river." It is truly rich and diverse. Since bathing is inseparable from water, some places have given it an elegant name called "water culture," which is indeed vivid and appropriate. No matter how you look at it, when we immerse ourselves in clear, warm water and thoroughly cleanse ourselves, we remove the dust but gain relaxation. Therefore, we can conclude that bathing is not only a part of culture but also a form of leisure and enjoyment.
