Features: The revision of the "Code for Highway Subgrade Design" was carried out in accordance with the spirit of the Ministry of Communications' "Notice on Issuing the Work Plan for the Compilation and Revision of Highway Engineering Standard Norms and Quotas in 2000" (Jiaotong Highway Development [2000] No. 722) and the "Notice on Issuing the Highway Engineering Standard Norm System" (Jiaotong Highway Development [2002] No. 288). The newly revised "Code for Highway Subgrade Design" incorporates relevant content from the "Technical Specification for Design and Construction of Highway Fly Ash Embankments" (JTJ016-93), "Technical Specification for Design and Construction of Highway Soft Soil Subgrade Embankments" (JTJ017-96), "Code for Highway Drainage Design" (JTJ018-96), and "Technical Specification for the Application of Geosynthetics in Highway Engineering" (JTY019-98). Based on the original code, the revision addresses prominent issues in current highway subgrade design, such as the boundaries and design principles for high-fill and deep-excavation sections, slope protection, subgrade compaction standards, and the design of special subgrades. The revision emphasizes the systematic approach to highway subgrade design, as well as the design principles of soil and water conservation, environmental protection, and landscape coordination. It places strong emphasis on geological and hydrological condition surveys, and highlights comprehensive design aspects such as foundation treatment, fill material selection, subgrade strength and stability, slope protection, drainage systems, and construction techniques for critical sections. The revision further emphasizes the systematic approach to highway subgrade design, as well as the design principles of soil and water conservation, environmental protection, and landscape coordination. It places strong emphasis on geological and hydrological condition surveys, and highlights comprehensive design aspects such as foundation treatment, fill material selection, subgrade strength and stability, slope protection, drainage systems, and construction techniques for critical sections.
