What should I do if my white blood cells and lymphocytes are high?

Patient's question:

White blood cells and lymphocytes are high, I am very worried. The child's symptoms keep recurring, and we have already had tests done. We hope the doctor can help us.

Doctor's answer:

Be alert to the possibility of lymphocytic leukemia, or it could be a viral infection. It is recommended to undergo bone marrow aspiration for further confirmation. Because lymphocytes are elevated, and intermediate cells are also high, leading to a high white blood cell count (both of these plus neutrophils are white blood cells). Neutrophils are actually normal, but because the white blood cell count is high, their proportion is low. Hematocrit is slightly low, but if other items are normal, it is not significant. If the person is female, it is even less of a concern.
