Features: Wen Yiduo was a renowned Chinese poet, scholar, and democratic fighter in the 20th century. In his early years, he was passionate about the creation and theoretical research of new poetry. With his two poetry collections, Red Candles and Still Waters, and his advocacy for new regulated verse, he pioneered a new poetic style. His famous patriotic poem, Song of the Seven Sons, echoed across China when Macau was returned to the motherland at the end of the 20th century. His academic research covered a wide range of fields, including ancient literature, gold inscriptions archaeology, the Book of Songs, the Chuci, the Hundred Schools of Thought, the Yuefu, and Tang Dynasty literature. His studies were extensive, innovative, and revealed insights previously unexplored, earning him great admiration from the academic community. Later in life, he rose up against autocracy and civil war, fighting for democracy with unwavering integrity. Tragically, he was assassinated by secret agents and died a heroic death. Ba Jin once said, "The conscience of the nation, the dear friend of the youth, Professor Wen Yiduo is a shining example of Chinese intellectuals." The authors of this book, Wen Lidiao and Du Chunhua, are Wen Yiduo's son and daughter-in-law, who vividly narrate the extraordinary life of their father through their personal experiences.
