Features: Holding a comprehensive scientific symposium across the entire institute is a research system and academic tradition of the School of International Studies. Over the past decade, practice has shown that this system has played a positive role in promoting the development of research and academic progress at the institute. Especially since its first implementation in the form of a "Science Week" in 2001, the content and effectiveness of the institute-wide scientific symposium have become even richer and more significant. From December 15 to 22, 2004, the institute held the 2004 Science Week event. Faculty actively wrote and submitted academic papers, and teaching, research units, and relevant administrative departments held specialized academic discussions. Everyone engaged in in-depth discussions on the development and cutting-edge issues of various disciplines, exchanged academic ideas, explored new approaches and methods for the development of disciplinary construction and research at the institute, and was committed to strengthening interdisciplinary communication and cooperation. To better reflect the achievements of this Science Week event and encourage faculty's research enthusiasm, a selection of nearly 100 papers submitted during the event has been compiled and published for reference in teaching and academic research.
