Features: Zhéyù Guījiàn Bǔ is an anthology of historical cases compiled by Hu Wenbing during the Qing Dynasty. It is a more comprehensive collection of cases following Zheng Ke's Zhéyù Guījiàn from the Song Dynasty. The work extensively gathers cases from ancient texts, extracting highly research-worthy judgments, making it an important reference for understanding and studying the actual practice of ancient Chinese justice. However, this case collection currently only exists in the edition published in the fourth year of the Guangxu reign, and it remains unorganized and rarely accessible to readers. The Social Science Project of the Municipal Education Commission, Zhéyù Guījiàn Bǔyìzhù, systematically annotates and translates this ancient case collection. In addition to annotations and translating the original text, the project also provides significant corrections to the references cited in the original work, rectifying many errors and omissions. It offers readers a complete edition. Furthermore, the project provides brief commentaries on each case in the original work, highlighting certain notable features of ancient justice and offering lessons for modern legal development. It also holds high academic value and guiding significance for understanding and researching the law and legal culture of ancient Chinese society.
