Features: The "White Magnolia" International Television Forum, as one of the four main events of the Shanghai Television Festival, was officially named the "White Magnolia" International Television Forum in 2003. The forum serves as an open platform to focus on the latest trends in the international media industry and invites global industry leaders to provide guidance for China's television industry. Adhering to the principle of "global topics, industry experience," the three major components of the forum—"White Magnolia" Forum, "White Magnolia" Report, and "White Magnolia" Survey—form a multi-layered structure, fulfilling its mission to "chart the course for China's television industry."
Shanghai Television Festival: Established in 1986, the Shanghai Television Festival is China's earliest international television festival and has witnessed the development of China's television industry. Over the past two decades, the four main events of the Shanghai Television Festival—"White Magnolia" International Television Awards, International Film and Television Program Market, International Broadcasting and Film Equipment Exhibition, and "White Magnolia" International Television Forum—have grown into globally recognized brands. By 2005, the Shanghai Television Festival had successfully held 11 editions, attracting over 2,500 world-class television dramas and documentaries to participate. It has nurtured Asia's largest film and television program trading market, with annual transaction values nearing 1 billion RMB in recent years. Today, the Shanghai Television Festival has become an important international platform for global television programs to enter China and for Chinese television programs to reach the world.
Nowadays, our lives offer more entertainment options, and television programs are increasingly diverse—Korean dramas, Japanese dramas, TVB shows, Taiwanese idol dramas, and domestic serial dramas all captivate audiences with their compelling plots. This book is a concise overview of past editions of the Shanghai Television Festival. It is divided into two parts: the first part is the "White Magnolia" Forum, and the second part is the "White Magnolia" Survey. The book explores future television trends and summarizes past experiences.
