Chinese Classical Cultural Scenery -- Japanese Chinese Studies Anthology

Author: (Japanese) Kiyonori Koike, translated by Li Yinsheng
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2007-07-01
Features: We have not selected large-scale monographs for this series, such as "Examination of the Shangshu Cited in Li Shan's Annotations of the Wenxuan" by Spinoro Ryo or "A Study of the Text of Bai Juyi's Collection Based on Old Manuscripts" by Taro Ota. These works hold high academic value but cater to a narrow readership. They are important and should be translated and introduced when conditions permit. Our primary goal is to help readers get acquainted with a group of more accessible works—books written by scholars for non-Chinese specialists. The selected titles include a few new works, but most are "small books" written by "Daigaku" (University). Some emphasize the preservation of Chinese documentary materials, others fill gaps in local Chinese studies, some highlight their historical role in Sino-Japanese relations, and others focus on their influence in the Japanese academic community. We prioritize specific strengths over comprehensiveness, accumulate knowledge gradually, and embrace diversity while balancing academic rigor and readability. Through this series, readers can gradually meet renowned scholars whose works they have long admired but never read, sharing the landscape of Japanese Sinology together.
