Publish Date: 2005-05-01
Features: The development of academic endeavors is like the Yangtze River, vast and unending, with waves following waves. It is also like the passing of the torch, with each generation building upon the achievements and experiences of the previous one, making the light ever brighter. Later scholars must understand the work done by their predecessors, inherit their accomplishments and insights, and then move forward on this foundation. The Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences brings together dozens of senior experts from dozens of disciplines within our institution, each with decades of research experience in their respective fields and having made significant contributions. The published series features representative works selected by each expert from their academic career, showcasing their dedicated scholarly journey while also reflecting the partial achievements and developments in various fields of philosophy and social sciences in China over the past few decades, especially since the reform and opening-up. This is a highly meaningful endeavor.
Over the years, the author has studied the history of literature and the history of philosophy, but ultimately settled in the study of modern Chinese history and the history of the Republic of China. In addition to monographs and pamphlets, he has written over two hundred academic articles and compiled several collections. This book selects thirty articles from previously published works on modern Chinese history, dedicated to readers who are interested in this field.
