White Nights depicts the innocent girl, Natasha, falling in love with her boarder. They agree to meet on a bridge after a year, but the boarder does not appear on time. The narrator comforts the heroine and accompanies her in waiting for four nights. In the end, the boarder finally appears and takes the girl away. The Gambler revolves around a group of gamblers participating in roulette, portraying the life journeys and spiritual states of two generations of Russian landlords and nobles in the 19th century.
