Features: Mr. Qian Zhongshu (1910–1998) was a renowned scholar and writer in modern China. His works, such as the widely circulated Discussions on Art, The Collected Works of Chu Tz'u, and Fortress Besieged, have all become important academic and literary classics of the 20th century. To present Mr. Qian Zhongshu's academic and literary achievements more comprehensively and facilitate readers' research and study, with his authorization, Sanlian Bookstore organized a team to edit this series, The Collected Works of Qian Zhongshu. The series includes the following ten works: Discussions on Art, The Collected Works of Chu Tz'u, Selected Poems of the Sung Dynasty, Seven Knots, Fortress Besieged, Man, Beast, and Devil, and Written on the Edge of Life. Written on the Edge of Life, Beyond the Edge of Life, The Whisper of Stones, and Poems of Huaiju. For the works that have been officially published, we have made corrections based on the revisions made by Mr. Qian Zhongshu in his personal copies. Among them, Discussions on Art and The Collected Works of Chu Tz'u were revised and supplemented multiple times after publication. Due to various reasons, these revisions and supplements were not included in the original text during subsequent reprints but were appended at the end of each book, causing inconvenience for readers. For this collection, we have organized and compiled these works according to Mr. Qian's wishes, incorporating all the supplementary sections into the corresponding main text. Additionally, we have corrected a small number of obvious errors. As for the original prefaces, translated titles, and original wording by the author, to preserve the historical authenticity, they are generally left unchanged. The Collected Works of Qian Zhongshu was provided with sample books and manuscripts by Mr. Qian Zhongshu and Ms. Yang Jiang. Mr. Lu Gusu, Mr. Luo Xinzhang, Mr. Dong Hengsun, Mr. Xue Hongshi, and Ms. Zhang Peifen served as foreign language proofreaders. Mr. Lu Wenhu and Ms. Ma Rong were respectively responsible for the editing of Discussions on Art and The Collected Works of Chu Tz'u.
