Features: At the age of over twenty, Qi Gong began to study under Li Yun, learning about academic schools and textual criticism, and understanding that "without evidence, no claim" is the foundation of conduct and writing. At that time, he had a private passion for calligraphy and painting, often drawing inspiration from ancient artworks. One day, Li Yun asked about his interests, and Qi Gong replied that he hoped to achieve something in the arts. The teacher then encouraged him with a witty remark: "I initially studied medicine, and in the future, I will also be a transmitter of medical skills." Later, he taught at middle schools and universities, gradually expanding his scope of involvement, and also indulged in poetry and lyrics, having written "Draft on Ancient Characters." When the book was completed, his teacher still had the opportunity to review it. After painstakingly writing "Draft on the Prosody of Poems and Prose," it took ten years to finish, but his teacher was no longer able to see it. In the early 1980s, the elderly friend Fu Xuancong of Zhonghua Book Company asked me to compile my scattered old manuscripts into a book. Fortunately, I had a pre-existing request for his teacher to inscribe "Qi Gong's Collected Works" on a label, which I used for the title. Mr. Fu urged for prompt printing, and the publishing department term for this is "," and within a few days, the printing was completed. This is the second volume of my humble manuscripts. Over the years of teaching, it has all been classical literature. The step of teaching classical texts is actually translating ancient language into modern language, and as a result, there are explorations of the ancient and modern grammar of poems and prose, and the pieces are included in the Collected Works. Later, as the exploration deepened, Mr. Chen Wanxiang gradually compiled related papers on Chinese language, which were published by the Commercial Press Hong Kong as "Essays on Chinese Phenomena." These types of papers are no longer included in this volume. Now, about twenty years have passed since the early 1980s, and my miscellaneous manuscripts have increased again. The old "Collected Works" can no longer accommodate them, so they are divided into two volumes: one titled "Essays Volume" and the other "Annotations Volume." The kindness of my old friends has allowed me to once again seek correction from respected readers, which is deeply appreciated. For this second edition of my "Collected Works," the reorganization of volumes, the arrangement of titles, and the textual proofreading were greatly discussed with Mr. Liu Shi, and he put in tremendous effort. I sincerely thank him! On the New Year of 1999, Qi Gong self-authors.
