Features: This textbook removes certain content from the second edition that does not comply with the new teaching syllabus requirements for pharmaceutical sciences or the current Pharmacopoeia regulations, while adding new content required by the syllabus. It aims to ensure the textbook possesses strong ideological, scientific, advanced, inspirational, and applicable qualities. To this end, the authors have made appropriate adjustments to the division of units, the sequence, and the allocation of teaching hours while adhering to the course and unit objectives of the pharmaceutical sciences teaching syllabus, based on actual teaching conditions. These adjustments have been approved by the Ministry of Health Textbook Review Committee. After the adjustments, the entire book has been expanded from 17 chapters as specified in the new teaching syllabus to 21 chapters. The details of the newly added 4 chapters are as follows:
1. Content related to preservation, antioxidation in "Liquid Dosage Forms" and antibiosis, antioxidation in "Injectables and Eye Drops" has been separated and combined into "Stability of Pharmaceutical Preparations."
2. Content on evaporation and concentration of extracts in "Extracted Dosage Forms" and material drying in "Tablets" has been separated and combined into "Distillation, Evaporation, and Drying."
3. "Sterilization and Aseptic Techniques" has been separated from "Injectables and Eye Drops."
4. "Eye Drops" from "Injectables and Eye Drops" and "Ophthalmic Ointments" from "Ointments" have been combined into "Ophthalmic Preparations."
The adjustments to the teaching content and time allocation after adding these 4 chapters are detailed in Appendix 1. The content of these 4 chapters fully complies with the requirements of the new pharmaceutical sciences syllabus.
