Features: This dictionary is based on the teaching requirements of College English Test Band 4 (which requires students to master 4,000 basic vocabulary words) and provides commonly used medical vocabulary (including some frequently used general terms in medical books), totaling 3,300 words. This helps students expand their vocabulary to over 7,000 words, creating favorable conditions for smooth medical reading. The vocabulary in this dictionary is selected from medical textbooks published in the UK and the US, covering more than ten disciplines, including both basic and clinical courses. It is further refined based on the author's long-term experience in teaching medical English and a commonly used word list. Since its first publication in 1997, the Common Medical English Dictionary has been reprinted multiple times and has been well-received by readers. This revised and expanded edition enriches the content, increasing the number of entries from 330 to 7,000 and the number of example sentences from 8,000 to 17,000. Adding the 4,000 words required by the College English Test Band 4 teaching standards to the 7,000 carefully selected common words in this dictionary (including frequently used specialized terms and general vocabulary across various medical disciplines) results in approximately 11,000 words, which can basically meet the systematic learning and reference needs of medical readers. The vocabulary collected in this dictionary is primarily limited to commonly used medical terms. This revision also focuses on adding some more recent commonly used medical terms and strengthening the example content to reflect the latest developments in the field. Each entry includes English-Chinese parallel example sentences, which deepen the understanding of the word's meaning and its usage in medical literature, aiding in vocabulary memorization and reading comprehension of medical articles.
