Features: Dermatology and Venereology (6th Edition) is divided into three parts and thirty-six chapters. The general section now includes a new chapter titled "Introduction to Dermatology and Venereology," which provides a concise yet systematic overview of the history, current state, and characteristics of the discipline. To emphasize the importance of dermatopathology in diagnosing skin diseases, dermatopathology has been made a standalone chapter. To reflect the application of modern molecular biology techniques in clinical and research settings of dermatology and venereology, relevant content has been briefly introduced. Significant adjustments have also been made to the treatment drugs and techniques in dermatology and venereology.
The specific section on dermatology and the part on sexually transmitted diseases introduce 117 types of skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, an increase from the 5th edition. New additions include tinea, frictional lichenoid papules, certain animal-related skin diseases, occupational skin diseases, some types of eczema, pruritus gravidarum, centrifugal annular erythema, linear lichen, acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, porphyria cutanea tarda, and cutaneous horn, among others, which are common or have typical clinical manifestations. Rare or overlapping diseases with other disciplines, such as erysipelas and chickenpox, have been removed. The names of certain diseases have also been standardized (e.g., mycosis fungoides is now referred to as primary cutaneous T-cell lymphoma).
In terms of writing style, the book maintains a balance between classic and concise, ensuring no increase in word count despite adding new diseases. To preserve the discipline's unique characteristics and enhance quality, Dermatology and Venereology (6th Edition) continues to be published in color. The images used in the book are carefully selected from over 5,000 provided by various institutions, adhering to the principle of "selecting the best from the best, leaving none subpar." Additionally, to support teaching, we have summarized and refined the content of this textbook based on excellent international textbooks and meticulously drawn dozens of colorful diagrams.
