Features: Over the past 50 years, the Beijing Institute of Landscape Architecture and Ancient Construction Design has made significant contributions to the urban development of Beijing. Its work in urban landscape design includes: the environmental design of the Ten Great Buildings in the 1950s, the planning and design of new parks; urban greening in the 1960s and 1970s; the Asian Games projects in the 1980s; and domestic and international landscape engineering projects such as the Beijing Botanical Garden's greenhouse, the Tianhua Garden in Japan, and the De Yue Garden in Germany in the 1990s. Major urban landscape design projects representing the institute's employees' wisdom, such as the Millennium Monument and the airport road, Chang'an Avenue, and the construction of various ring roads to welcome the 21st century, are all testaments to their ingenuity. In the past two decades, more than 50 landscape design projects have won national, Ministry of Construction, and Beijing municipal design and scientific and technological progress awards. Additionally, some architecturally rich, culturally distinctive design projects have received the Beijing Architectural Art Creation Scheme Award and the Top Ten Architectural Design Scheme Award.
