Features: This textbook is based on the teaching content of the mechanics series courses in vocational and technical education civil engineering programs. It is compiled in accordance with the "Basic Requirements for Teaching Mechanics in Vocational and Technical Education Civil Engineering Majors" formulated by the Ministry of Education. It can be used as a textbook for civil engineering programs with a teaching plan of 220-250 class hours, and is also suitable for municipal engineering, road and bridge, and water conservancy programs. The textbook consists of three parts and is divided into two volumes. The first volume covers Part I Statics and Part II Mechanics of Materials, with the main content including: fundamentals of statics, plane force systems, spatial force systems; basic concepts of mechanics of materials, axial tension and compression, shear and bearing, torsion, geometric properties of plane figures, internal forces in beams, bending stress, bending deformation, strength calculation for combined deformation, column stability, and dynamic stress. Each chapter includes exercises, and answers to the exercises are provided at the end of the book.
