The order of names generally follows the《Tang and Five Dynasties Ci》and《Complete Songs of the Song Dynasty》. The principle is one poem with one commentary article, but some works are discussed together. This book uses simplified characters, with traditional characters or variant characters used when necessary to avoid ambiguity. Difficult phrases in the poems are usually explained within the commentary articles, with occasional annotations at the end. Historical dates related to ancient history are generally presented in the old calendar system with corresponding Gregorian dates. The Gregorian dates in parentheses usually omit the word "year."
