Features: This reference book, combining the functions of an anthology, commentary, and lookup tool, has become an essential resource for students and literature enthusiasts due to its collection of the essence of Chinese literature, as well as its accessible and comprehensive content. To meet the needs of readers with varying cultural backgrounds, a compact series of literary appreciation dictionaries has been compiled by selecting outstanding works and retaining some appendices based on the original dictionary's scale. This book includes 373 poems by 115 poets from the Tang Dynasty. They are generally arranged in chronological order. As a rule, each poem is accompanied by a separate commentary, though some works are discussed together. The book uses simplified characters, with traditional characters or variant characters used when necessary to avoid ambiguity. Difficult or ambiguous phrases in the poems are usually explained within the commentary, with occasional notes added at the end. Historical dates related to ancient history are generally presented in the old calendar system, with corresponding Gregorian dates included. The Gregorian dates in parentheses usually omit the word "year."
