Features: Based on the characteristics of listening teaching in College English and the English proficiency of the target learners, this textbook has been revised according to the following principles:
1. The revised edition still emphasizes basic listening skills training, with life-related topics as the focus in the early stages, gradually increasing in difficulty, information volume, and diversity of topics, as well as improving the speed and difficulty of answering questions.
2. The selected materials cover all entries in the functional-notional syllabus and the requirements for listening skills and some speaking skills specified in the micro-skill table.
3. While cultivating students' ability to understand basic linguistic units, the textbook gradually enhances their ability to comprehend discourse-level content, improving their analytical, summarizing, synthesizing, and inferential skills.
4. To ensure that the listening speeds meet the syllabus requirements at each level, the training speeds used in the textbook are slightly higher than those specified in the syllabus, while the speeds for quizzes and review tests remain consistent with the syllabus.
5. The exercises in the textbook are rich and varied, including new question types from the National College English Tests (CET-4 and CET-6), aiming to train and improve students' listening comprehension skills from multiple perspectives.
6. The revised edition has added an oral practice section, allowing students to use the language and content provided in the textbook for basic training in oral expression under the guidance of their teachers.
7. The content of the textbook strives to be fresh, lively, and engaging, with well-received passages retained and adjusted while gradually incorporating content reflecting the latest information. The language used is authentic, vivid, and standardized. This book is the teacher's edition for the revised listening textbook. It consists of 20 lessons and is designed for use by college English teachers. Every 6 lessons form a unit, focusing on training a major listening skill, followed by a quiz. After the 20 lessons, a review test is provided, covering all listening skills in the textbook and serving as a mock exam for the first-level listening test. Quizzes and review questions can be used to assess students' learning progress, and their results can be included in their regular grades.
