Features: Since the publication of the French-Chinese Dictionary in 1978, it has been well-received by readers and has become a staple medium-sized comprehensive language dictionary for those learning and using French. However, twenty years have passed, and with societal development, languages have also evolved. The usage of certain words in French has changed, and many new terms have emerged. To meet the needs of readers, we began this revision in 1998. This revision has added numerous new entries, with a focus on incorporating new terms in fields such as economics, law, and science and technology (including computer science, information science, and biotechnology). At the same time, some outdated terms that are no longer commonly included in medium-sized French dictionaries and examples with specific historical connotations have been removed. Additionally, the definitions and usage of a significant number of entries have been revised or supplemented, and certain formatting adjustments have been made. New phonetic rules have also been adopted based on the trends of phonetic development. The revised dictionary now contains approximately 65,000 entries, with an increased capacity compared to the original. Our goal is to make the revised New French-Chinese Dictionary a more comprehensive and practical medium-sized dictionary.
