Features: In 2003, the Ministry of Education issued the "Full-Time Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards," designating 20 extracurricular reading materials for primary and secondary school students. This book is compiled to assist junior and primary school teachers and students in better reading these 20 classic works from ancient and modern China and abroad. On one hand, it provides basic guidelines for junior and primary school students to appreciate and analyze these works, while also serving as a reference for Chinese language teachers in junior and primary schools to guide students in extracurricular reading. It is a learning aid suitable for both junior and primary school teachers and students. This guide is composed of the following sections:
1. Author's Biography: Introduces the author's personal background, life experiences, and major works. The author's life journey is depicted vividly and concisely, reflecting their personality traits and strengths. Additionally, it provides an appropriate explanation of the author's works included in extracurricular reading.
2. Creative Background: This section explains the historical context in which the work was created and details the author's personal circumstances and creative process during the writing of the work, highlighting the intersection between the two. It avoids general introductions to the creative background and instead delves into the social roots of the work and the author's state of mind, intellectual tendencies, and relevant facts during the writing process, aiming to restore the historical context of the creation.
3. Character Profiles: This section is included for novels, dramas, biographies, and dialogue-based works. It introduces the main characters in the work, specifying their identities and relationships with other characters, to help junior and primary school teachers, students, and readers grasp the characters in the work.
4. Plot Summary or Basic Content: Novels and dramas are summarized in terms of plot, while other works are described in terms of their basic content. If a book includes multiple works, each is introduced separately.
5. Work Analysis: This is the core and main part of the guide, reflecting the level of the reading aid. We strive to avoid generalizations and instead identify multiple entry points for interpreting the work. By choosing new perspectives, we guide readers into the colorful artistic world created by the work. Through reading the work analysis, teachers and students can break free from conventional thinking patterns and rigid interpretive models, grasp the work as an organic whole, and explore the rich artistic realm, cultivating their imagination and creativity. In the process of interpreting the work, in addition to necessary theoretical summaries, factors such as experience and comprehension are particularly emphasized, aiming for a comprehensive review. For ease of reading, this section is organized under several striking headings, showcasing the work from different angles. When discussing specific issues, excerpts from the work are quoted to deepen understanding and motivate teachers and students to read the original text, develop scientific interpretive methods, and gain a comprehensive grasp of the work. The main readers of this guide are junior and primary school teachers and students, so the writing is kept as clear and accessible as possible, avoiding overly complex language or obscure expressions.
