Publishing Date: 2000-12-01
Features: Mo Youzhi, a native of Zhaoshan, Guizhou, was a Jinshi (provincial-level scholar) during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, renowned for his calligraphy, expertise in bibliographic studies, and authorship of works such as Zhaoting Zhi Jian (A Record of Knowledge from Zhaoting) and Fushu Shumu (A Catalogue of Manuscripts). This book is a collection of notes compiled by the author during the years from Bingchou to Yisi (1864–1870) while searching for books, encompassing 130 ancient manuscripts from the Song and Yuan dynasties. It was organized into three volumes by his second son, Shousun, and supplemented with 104 fine Ming and Qing dynasty manuscripts and inscriptions on (stone and metal artifacts) as appendices in two volumes. Published in Jiangning in the year Guixiu (1863), this work was engraved by the Guangling Book Society using Mo’s family-owned printing plates. The book exists in two versions: one is the Yingshan Cota Tang six-volume edition, and the other is the standalone edition currently used for printing. Both versions share identical formatting and design, though the numerals carved at the bottom of the central fold show slight variations. Based on their condition, it is likely that the standalone edition was published first, with the Yingshan Cota Tang six-volume edition being a later release or a reprint of the standalone edition.
