Features: From October 1993 to May 1994, to support the construction of the Jingjiu Railway, the Jingjiu Railway Archaeological Team of Hubei Province and the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology completely exposed a Neolithic middle-late period cemetery in Gushan, Wuxue City. A total of 238 tombs were excavated and cleared, with 1,685 funerary artifacts made of pottery, stone, jade, and other materials unearthed. This book systematically and comprehensively reports on this material, dividing the tombs into three phases and five sections. Based on the phasing, it explores the burial patterns, cultural factors, and stages of social development of the cemetery in terms of time and space, and further analyzes the cultural characteristics of the Gushan cemetery, which is primarily influenced by the Xuejiagang culture, while also incorporating elements of the Youziling, Qujialing, Majiabang, and Songze cultures. This book provides a complete set of materials for understanding the cultural characteristics of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River during the Neolithic middle-late period, as well as the intersection and integration of archaeological cultures in the middle and lower reaches.
