Features: In real life, if the law is merely confined to paper, whoever has power can trample it at will. Even heroes like Wu Song, Xie Zhen, and Xie Bao can be coerced into false confessions, so it is not surprising that ordinary people become the protagonists of injustice. Romance influences politics, and the bedside dictates the state of affairs. Some even comment that a glorious cause often cannot withstand a few coquettish laughs beside the bed. Since ancient times, how many cultural figures have remained clear-headed in the face of power's temptation, and how many have become parasites of power? A slave straightening up is a personal blessing, while a talent bending down is a societal tragedy. Only when servility is no longer fragrant but stinking can the sky of humanity become clear blue.
Within an organization, it is difficult to achieve complete unity. The so-called "think as one and work as one" is merely a written report language. Beneath the calm surface, there are often undercurrents of factional struggles. The author draws on historical methods to dissect the social connotations of the novel, attempting to build a new path between history and fiction—"to examine the national history and pay attention to gains and losses." Based on an acute understanding of human nature and social dynamics, he explores the cultural, institutional, legal, and psychological reasons behind the collapse of the imperial system, shining with the brilliance of rational wisdom. Here, the boundary between historical facts and fiction is no longer important because it has been immersed in the springs of human aesthetics, moral judgment, and deep contemplation.

The young scholar Li Guangge, with the narrative and charm of modern prose, creates a genuine and profound historical reading scene, exuding the spirit of "guiding the nation and stirring the words." It allows readers to experience the conflict between the social turmoil of the late feudal era and the hard survival of individuals while reading leisurely, gaining an intuitive understanding of the cultural psychology and institutional direction under traditional society.
—Zou Dongbo (Economist, General Editor of Social Sciences Academic Press, Doctoral Supervisor)
This is one of my favorite Chinese works in recent years. It has given me a sense of shock and impact. Through a combination of spirituality and philosophy, the author describes and analyzes a unique gray social phenomenon of the late feudal empire and the original ecological state of a once-existent society. The jungle law and the violent politics of the Water Margin depict a tough survival game of "striving for power, wealth, life, and survival." By peering into the joys and sorrows of the Water Margin characters, we seem to see the gray world that left us sighing nine hundred years ago.
—Qiao Zhaogang (Scholar of Human Resource Management, Official of the World Bank, Doctor from the University of Maryland, USA)
The young scholar Li Guangge delves deep into the sigh-worthy Water Margin world nine hundred years ago, drawing on historical methods to analyze the foolishness of emperors, the joys and sorrows of the heroes, the prevalence of villains, the dominance of evil, the suffering of the people, and the decline of heroic spirit in the late Northern Song Dynasty. He explores the violent political rules and survival game laws of various strata in the gray social state of the late Northern Song Dynasty, which is highly impactful and thought-provoking. In this book, the joys and sorrows of the heroes are imbued with social and historical significance: these heroes, with their humble fates, sounded the alarm for the collapse of the Northern Song feudal empire. The work is intellectually sharp, visually unique, with sharp language and seasoned writing, full of wit and humor. It creates a genuine and profound historical reading scene, with meticulous and incisive analysis, allowing readers to grasp the survival rules and wisdom of life hidden in the Water Margin stories.
