Features: In the vast history of calligraphy over these 20 years, Professor Chen Zhenlian has not only played a significant role through his creative work in painting, calligraphy, seal carving, theoretical writings, and teaching practices, but has also, to a greater extent, built his extensive academic system through his travels, friendly conversations with teachers and friends, as well as numerous academic reports and speaking engagements. Therefore, while we focus on his nearly 40 academic books and hundreds of research papers, we might also consider another perspective—his presence in speeches, study visits, dialogues, and debates—and even say that many of his new academic ideas, such as "Academic Calligraphy Creative Model" and "Disciplinary Research in Calligraphy," actually originated from an accidental speech or debate, gradually taking shape and consolidating over long-term reflection and exploration into the form we see today.
The first part of this book includes four main sections: transcripts of Professor Chen Zhenlian's speeches, lectures, study visits, dialogues, Q&A sessions, academic summaries, and debates, along with additional articles such as a comprehensive report on the "1997 Korea-China-Japan Young Writers International Exchange Exhibition," Professor Chen Zhenlian and others attending the "International Academic Conference on Chinese Calligraphy" in Hong Kong, a historical review and academic reflection on the "National Exhibition of Middle-aged and Young Calligraphers and Seal Carvers," a report and proposal on the concept positioning and curriculum implementation of art education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Chen Zhenlian's recent achievements in Japan. The second part includes topics such as disciplinary research in calligraphy, new ideas for teaching reform in contemporary Chinese painting, research on postgraduate teaching in calligraphy, issues of distinctive characteristics and standardization in art programs at comprehensive universities, and the Xiling Seal Society, among others. By reading this book, readers can gain a more comprehensive, substantial, and well-rounded image of Professor Chen Zhenlian.
