Patient's question:
I discovered several round bumps on my glans about 3 months ago. They are slightly reddish, with a diameter of 1-2 millimeters, slightly higher than the surrounding skin by less than 1 millimeter, and neither itchy nor painful. However, recently I noticed more of them. The original ones haven't grown and are still the same—brighter than the surrounding skin. I'm very worried and don't know what they are. They only appear on the glans. Please help me, doctors!!! Thank you.Doctor's answer:
Hello, your condition is likely to be a form of molluscum contagiosum, which is a normal physiological variation and is more common in young and middle-aged adults. It typically presents with no symptoms. The typical clinical features include: small, pinhead-sized papules on the dorsal and lateral sides of the coronal sulcus, resembling pearls in appearance, and are white, yellow, or pink, arranged in one or several rows along the coronal sulcus. Some may form a complete circle around the coronal sulcus. They are relatively hard in texture and are characterized by being asymptomatic, non-itchy, non-painful, and non-ulcerative, generally requiring no treatment. If some individuals have phimosis and do not pay enough attention to hygiene, leading to frequent accumulation of smegma and infection, the excess foreskin may be surgically removed.
