Features: The Democratic Republic of the Congo is located in the heart of Africa, abundant in resources, and possesses a unique geographical position, often referred to as the "World's Raw Material Warehouse." The sculptural works left behind by the ancient Kuba Kingdom are considered world art treasures. However, long-term political instability and economic decline have kept the people in poverty. The end of the civil war in 2003 brought new hope to the Congo. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a historically significant, resource-rich, and strategically important country in Africa, known as the "Jewel of Central Africa," the "World's Raw Material Warehouse," and the "Heart of Africa." According to archaeological findings, human life and reproduction have existed in the Congo for over a million years. As early as the 9th century, the people there mastered copper smelting and cast copper ingots as currency for trade with the outside world. Since the second half of the 14th century, states began to be established in the Congo. The historically recorded states include the Kingdom of Kongo, the Kuba Kingdom, the Luba Kingdom, the Lunda Kingdom, the Azandé Sultanate, the Mangbetu Sultanate, and the Msiri Kingdom. These early state organizations were not only important markers of the Congo's evolution from ancient to modern society but also an integral part of the development history of Black civilization across the entire African continent. This book is a comprehensive reference tool that reflects the political, economic, historical, geographical, military, diplomatic, and educational/social development of the Congo. Considering the unique characteristics of the Congo's own development and the existing literature, some adjustments and modifications have been made to certain chapters based on the original outline. For example, Chapter 2, "History," in the original outline was divided into sections such as "Ancient Brief History," "Medieval Brief History," "Modern Brief History," and "Contemporary Brief History." This book, however, divides the chapter into "Ancient Brief History," "Colonial Brief History," and "Contemporary Brief History" based on the actual historical development of the Congo. Chapter 5, "Military," was simplified because there were very few relevant materials, and the book had to reduce the sections outlined in the original plan. In Chapter 6, "Education, Science, Arts, and Health," science and technology are relatively important sections, but the author has only collected some scattered materials on humanities and social sciences research during the period before and after the Congo's independence, so this section had to be omitted. In systematically reviewing the various aspects of the Congo according to the established outline of the "Chronicles of Nations," the author strives to integrate the content of different fields to allow readers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic development of the Congo from both vertical and horizontal perspectives. This book is positioned as an academic reference tool, so the author primarily uses systematic, detailed, and reliable historical materials and statistics to analyze the content covered in the book while also frankly expressing his own views and opinions on major issues. All historical materials and data in the book are sourced from the references listed in the appendix, and to save space, they are generally not annotated in the text.
