Check for cytomegalovirus infection in newborns?

Patient's question:

I would like to ask, if I want to get a test for neonatal cytomegalovirus infection, what kind of results would indicate that my child might have been infected with the cytomegalovirus? I'm a bit worried that my child might test positive for this issue.

Doctor's answer:

Diagnosis can be performed using any of the following methods.
HCMV·HCMV is isolated from urine, blood, saliva, milk, and other tissues. When other viruses are detected in addition to cytomegalovirus, typical cytomegalovirus is found in the cells of the tested tissue.
Serum-specific antibody detection
① Serum anti-cytomegalovirus antibody: A change from negative to positive indicates primary infection.
② Serum anti-cytomegalovirus antibody: A positive result indicates HCMV infection; if both CMV-IgG antibodies are negative, it indicates a primary infection.
