Features: 2005 was a turning point for Journal of Chinese Studies. Starting from this issue, the layout of Journal of Chinese Studies changed, with revised cover design, binding, and paper quality, making it visually more solemn and elegant. Of course, the changes in Journal of Chinese Studies are not just in its outward form but also in its content and character. Careful planning and editing are key to the transformation of Journal of Chinese Studies. The scope of Journal of Chinese Studies has become broader, its articles more refined, and its depth more profound. Beyond the accumulation of historical materials on Chinese studies, there has been a particular emphasis on strengthening the theoretical aspects of Chinese studies. Throughout history, the works and articles in various languages that carry the history of Chinese studies are vast as the smoke of the sea. Some sinologists have conducted in-depth and insightful research on Chinese culture, their theoretical insights truly rare "stones from other mountains." However, theoretical misinterpretations and distortions of Chinese culture should not be taken lightly. One of the tasks of Journal of Chinese Studies is "selection," and we strive to distinguish between the essence and dross, allowing the true flame of scholarship to illuminate our vision. This issue is the last co-published by the Institute of Chinese Studies at Beijing Language and Culture University and the Institute of Sino-Western Cultural Studies at Macao University of Science and Technology. We are deeply grateful to the Macao University of Science and Technology, led by President Li Xiangyu and the Council, as well as the Institute of Sino-Western Cultural Studies, for their sincere support of Journal of Chinese Studies. This invaluable support has connected Macao, which plays a crucial role in the exchange of Sino-Western culture and has unintentionally become a cradle for the development of Chinese studies, with scholars from abroad and within China. This connection holds international significance and great academic value. It is evident that an internationalized Macao will serve as an important bridge and transit point for Chinese studies and the gradual advancement of Chinese research. Additionally, starting from this issue, the Academic Editing Office of Zhonghua Book Company will take on greater responsibilities in the editing and publication of Journal of Chinese Studies. Through the meticulous and prudent editing work of the chief editor and the editorial staff, Journal of Chinese Studies will exhibit a more youthful appearance.
