Features: The book is titled "Political Spirit," so what is political spirit? From the perspective of political culture, political spirit refers to the sublimation of rational thinking, representing the cohesion and elevation of social subjects' understanding of political values, political ethical concepts, political consciousness, and emotions in their thoughts. The expression of political spirit can be through discourse, or it may also manifest through political behavior or other political expressions. What we are going to present is not solemn and serious thinkers who rarely smile, but rather flesh-and-blood individuals with all emotions. Ge Quan is a professor born in 1953, from Anhui. He participated in the rural labor program and worked in various jobs. In the late 1970s, after the college entrance examination was restored, he entered Nankai University to study, eventually earning a master's degree in history. Currently, he teaches at the School of Political Science at Nankai University. His field of expertise: the history of Chinese political thought and Chinese political culture. He has published six books and more than thirty academic papers. Believing that knowledge is endless, he once coined the academic maxim: "Innovate and justify your arguments." In recent years, he has devoted particular effort to the study of intellectuals. This book draws on modern "political culture" theory to analyze the spiritual essence of the Donglin Party members from the perspectives of political values, political consciousness, political beliefs, and political attitudes, and combines this methodology with the study of political personality. With a new perspective, the vision must differ, and it is bound to cultivate new varieties in the land already cultivated by predecessors. If we look at the bigger picture, it is an undisputed fact that every leap in human understanding so far has required innovation in methodology to take the lead. If we focus on the details, even slight improvements and attempts in methodology can undoubtedly advance our understanding of the political spirit of Chinese scholars.
