Will balanitis heal on its own?

Patient's question:

I recently don't know what's going on, my lower body is very uncomfortable, and I'm not getting morning erections anymore. Can balanitis heal on its own?

Doctor's answer:

General balanitis does not require surgery. It is usually caused by excessive foreskin or phimosis, which allows bacteria to grow near the glans, leading to balanitis. In such cases, surgery to remove the foreskin is necessary to effectively prevent the occurrence of balanitis. If surgery is not desired temporarily, soaking in potassium permanganate solution and applying some antibiotics can generally also completely eliminate the inflammation.
